The rest of Biniyam’s Pool of Bethesda submission:

My name is Biniyam Fikadu Geleta. I’m from Ethiopia. I was raised within a divorced family where my mother was a singer (worldly song). My mother was always reads bible even though she was in the life which didn’t resemble of what she read for me and told me. This act of my mother leads me to read the bible since my 8. When I was elementary school student I was preaching the gospel in school even though I was under the influence of my uncle, I was believer but didn’t have any communion with Christians but God used me to lead others to the truth. While I was in high school and university I asked my Christian friends to take me to the local church, but none of them respond to my request because everybody took my word as jokes.
After my graduation I came to realize that I should have to be involved in communion with the brother and sisters and God created an occasion that lead me to join the local church near to me. Immediately after I responded to the call of the Holy Spirit within me, God started to use me while I’m a student of Salvation education. God talked me in visions and dreams. Since then He promised to use me till I compensate the years I lost in delusion between the godly and worldly life. I started living in peace and dependence on Lord of my soul. I was a servant, as a leader and teacher of youths, in the Youth Ministry of Ethiopian Full Gospel Believers’ Church, Gullele-Paulos local church. I served for five years in this ministry and it was hard but by the grace of God, Jesus did it through me. Currently, I’m serving in a Small Groups at homes, thanks to God! I’m always active in reading and learning new things in the free time I have.
I’m studying in CLI starting from 2012 and at this moment I completed 218 credits with 93 total credentials and 3.815 GPA. Christian Leaders Institute contributed a priceless contribution in my fellowship with the Bible. From CLI I learned how to read and dig out the exact meaning of Scripture technically. I learned how to deal with believers, how to council, how to preach, how to teach … In addition, I can’t explain the great contribution of forum discussions and posts, and the sequential courses Biblical Greek. In short term God highly used Christian Leaders Institute to build me up for the current and the future service in the Kingdom.
In the future I have a vision to open a Gospel Radio Station on which I’m going to communicate the pure word of God and also to establish a mobile theology school that cover the whole Ethiopia in every available language. I have a call to teach the bible and preach the Gospel, but still waiting my time while using effectively the opportunity I got. As I mentioned before I served as a small group leader and during that time I teach and preach the word. I effectively used my gifts because the grace of God helped me to train a bunch of leaders in five years and now they lead youth bible study teams at different levels. God was equipped me through the CLI and other personal and educational experience, and giving me a mission to stand against the false teachers and prophets not by focusing on their false teachings but by teaching and preaching the truth of the Word.
And as I mention it earlier God used CLI and equipping me in so many powerful weapons that helping me to reveal the truth from the Word of God. CLI is the answer for my prayer because in the time I couldn’t pay anything for education God put a desire to learn the Word also CLI in parallel. CLI already doing what was expected to make me stand for teaching. For the past three years I was writing on different theological and spiritual issues, completed part one of “the commentary on the book of Romans” (in Amharic) which is about 230 pages. In addition, I’m now working on two books (one Amharic and one English).
I need this scholarship because I’m unable to pay any payment to study in CLC. I have two reasons for my inability to pay even at the lowest recurring amount. First, there is no stated payment methodology in my country. Secondly, with the current economic condition I had I have nothing to pay for education. Even sometimes I’m unable to buy the Internet package for my online study because it is too costly. Still in the coming future I hope to finish all the courses of CLI and continue other theological educations (Master and Doctorate level) and finally to serve with CLI and other free online colleges and seminaries along with my other services. Of course I’m in need of this scholarship. Let me drive you back to 2000 years ago through John 5 to the Pool of Bethesda. There was a man who has been lame for 38 years. There was a man who has no one to help him toward his healing. There was a man who daily hope to be healed and wait for the trouble of the water by an angel. There was a man who always try his best but preceded by those who have helper. There was a man who is broken from his in more than from his leg, but who still hoping and hoping. This is actually similar to my life in the academic area. I was among the first liner students starting from the elementary school to the university. I applied different scholarships starting from 14 years ago; but I was unable to win any of them due to different reasons, mainly due to my inability to pay registration fee.
Now I lay myself at the door of the Pool of Bethesda hoping either someone to put me into the water or the arrival of my Savior to raise me up. I will not say I have no one to help me because I have millions of brothers and sisters in Christ. I want to raise up and walk for the work of the kingdom, in every aspect of my service this degree of CLC is essential as an activator of doors to be opened. Every publisher of Christian Writings ask for credentials; every church and theology schools ask for credentials and accredition. Therefore, I extremely need this educational opportunity. If I wrote hundreds of books and not published one what is the benefit? If I learned and read thousands of courses and books then if I didn’t use any of them to build something in the Kingdom of God what is my use? Now I can’t say “I have no man to put me into the troubled water”, because the water is already here by my brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus is here with you to raise me up, let me walk and testify about Who He is. I really can’t pick out one condition of hardship through which I passed because hardship have been my lifestyle for almost all my life. I passed through a lot of hardships of life as I spent most of my life alone. I tasted every available hardship of life: hunger, loneliness, depression, addiction, persecution, inability to pay for my education, unemployment, etc. throughout my life. However, God was always with me to encourage and comfort me. He never left me in any circumstance, and I was also seek Him and depend on Him without considering my situation. I studied my elementary school by spending my after school time in assisting my uncle at different works in the countryside. When I joined High School my father rented a small house for me and I was giving a home tutor for lower grade students to get income for living. In university God prepared another people, the friends of my father, they helped me financially. At the end of my third year, I deployed by non-governmental organization called Management Science for Health (MSH), and with that money I completed my last year study. I passed through many challenges but I know God was there for me and His abundant provision for the satisfaction of my needs. I absolutely need this scholarship opportunity and I hope to hear from one of my family members soon. God bless CLI and all who strive for this quality education.
In Christ yours, Biniyam Fikadu Geleta
